Status: Part-time, Non-exempt

Hours Per Week: 20 hours/week

Scope & Purpose of Position:
To maintain the grounds and facilities of Camp CONNRI & Lodge to the highest standards to enable our camper population to have the best possible experience. To maintain a hygienic and clean environment by carrying out daily cleaning tasks assigned by the supervisor.

  • Assist in the opening of youth camp in the spring, including but not limited to cleaning cabins, kitchen, and other seasonal buildings.
  • Assist in the closing down of youth camp in the fall, including but not limited to securing building, cleaning cabins, and storing away supplies and equipment.

  • Assist in the set-up and tear down of programming events.

  • Maintain a mileage log reflecting the use of the Camp Complex truck.

  • Perform general cleaning and set-up in preparation for Youth Camp and all outside or Divisional groups.

  • Assist all groups and youth camp with routine needs, and serve as the representative for The Salvation Army in the handling of all deliveries, pick-ups, and the like.

  • Maintain daily upkeep of assigned areas and equipment with minimal supervision.

  • Perform general building maintenance duties which may include, but are not limited to, carpentry projects, changing filters and light bulbs, clearing plumbing clogs, repairing leaking faucets.

  • Perform grounds maintenance duties which may include, but are not limited to, snow removal, mowing, clearing trees and brush.

  • Perform janitorial duties which include, but are not limited to, wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, painting, vacuuming, and general cleaning as requested or needed.

  • Record all needed repairs and report ALL repairs to supervisor and follow up with staff.

  • Ensure buildings and property are secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.

  • Clean up blood or body fluids which could contain bloodborne pathogens.

  • Operate motorized equipment used for cleaning and general maintenance.

  • Respond to afterhours or weather related emergencies as needed.

The above duties and responsibilities are not all inclusive and may be modified to include other job related duties at the discretion of the supervisor.


  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle driver’s license

  • Must have the ability to participate often in relatively strenuous physical activity such as, but not limited to, stacking chairs and moving tables, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.

  • Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of the equipment used for cleaning.

  • Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

  • Willingness to learn and share new and better methods of cleaning.

  • Prior experience with grounds tools such as lawn mowers and weed-whackers

  • Previous experience with carpentry, plumbing, construction or engineering is a

  • Ability to work alone and as part of team.

  • Must be able to manage time and have great attention to detail.

  • Must agree to abide by the Camp’s Personnel Policies and Practices as outlined in the Camp Staff Manual including the requirements that smoking, drinking of alcoholic beverages, and use of illegal drugs while on duty or on camp property will be grounds for immediate dismissal.
