Position:                                  Summer Day Camp Counselor

Department:                           York Corps Summer Day Camp

Availability of Position:         Immediate (6 positions available)

Schedule:                                Monday - Friday, 8:15 am -4:15 pm; June 25, 2018 - August 10, 2018

Reporting Relationship:        Day Camp Director

Salary and Grade:                 $8.35 per hour/70 non-exempt



The Day Camp Counselor will supervise the children assigned to their care and be a positive role model, Christian witness and always maintain a high degree of protective care for each child. The Day Camp Counselor

will participate in all programmatic aspects associated with the Day Camp program assigned.  The Day CampCounselor will perform other duties as assigned.    


High school diploma or equivalent.  Individual must have previous experience in working with children or comparable training.  Must be creative with activities for the gym, game room, computer lab and craft room.  While an appreciation for, and understanding of, the philosophy and mission of The Salvation Army is required, being active Salvationist is a plus. As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of  employment with recurrent training required every three years thereafter. *   Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
