Position: Youth Ministries Coordinator                                                                                                                         

Department: State College Corps, 2603 E. College Ave.                           

Availability of Position: Immediate             

Schedule: Full Time                                           

Reporting Relationship: Corps Officer         

Salary and Grade: $13.75 per hour; 73 Non-Exempt

The Youth Ministries Coordinator will provide relational ministry to children, teens and their families through evangelism, discipleship, Christian education, recreation and tutoring.   

The Youth Ministries Coordinator will:

  • Participate in the creation, development and implementation of essential army programs and music/creative arts programs for children and teens
  • Conduct weekly meetings for High-School age (Youth Group). This time should include possibilities for fellowship, worship, and service.
  • Lead Sunday School & Participate in Sunday Meetings
  • Develop and maintain programs and ministries that create safety for children and teens to grow and mature in faith and holy living.
  • Organize and implement Summer Vacation Bible School
  • Assist the corps officer with taking kids to and from Camp Ladore
  • Relationship building with families, to participate along with their children in Corps weekday and weekend activities.
  • Recruit, supervise, and train volunteers to assist with youth programs as needed.
  • Maintain current relationship with Penn State Sororities/Fraternities for homework help/tutoring program.
  • Keep accurate, confidential and organized files and statistics on all program participants and volunteers.
  • Develop and run fundraisers for youth programs as well as assisting the officer in fundraisers for the corps
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned by Corps Officers as needed, especially during Christmas effort.


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred
  • Experience in Youth Ministry
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be self-motivated, organized, creative and have basic computer skills
  • Uniformed Salvationist preferred – must be willing to soldier at the State College Corps
  • Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
