Overview

Position: Director of Social Services/UGI        
Department:  Allentown, PA Corps        
Availability of Position: March 1, 2018    
Schedule: Full Time; Monday - Friday 8 AM to 4 PM; additional hours as needed    
Reporting Relationship:   Corps Commanding Officer    
Salary Grade:    12 Exempt

Responsibilities

Oversees all aspects of social service delivery for The Salvation Army in Allentown, Pennsylvania, including development, evaluation, and administration of all social service programs which includes the After School Program, the Playground/Summer Day Camp Program and Camp Ladore; ensuring county, state and federal regulations are met, budget monitoring, recruitment, evaluation, and training of all social service personnel.  The Director of Social Services also serves as Social Case Worker for clients and their families providing a full range of social work intervention.

Qualifications

BA/BS/BSW with 5 years case work experience, MSW preferred.  Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.  Must have good organizational skills, and the ability to be self-motivated, and able to meet deadlines.  Must possess good interpersonal skills, and have a willingness to work with disadvantaged families.  Must have the ability to deal tactfully with clients, staff and public. Knowledge of principles, methods and techniques of efficient administration.  Must possess a valid Driver’s License. Candidate must meet PA Act 153 requirements.  Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks:  PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.    Candidate must also complete the mandated reporter child abuse training.  Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
