Overview

TITLE:   Events & Development Coordinator                    

DEPARTMENT:  Administration – Lehigh Valley Area Services, Allentown, PA

REPORTS TO:   Resource Development Manager (RDM)

SALARY and GRADE: $15.00 per hour; 74 Non-Exempt       

STATUS:  Part-Time; 20-29 hours per week, will vary

Position Overview:  This position will be responsible for supporting the development efforts of The Salvation Army throughout the Lehigh Valley, working specifically with event planning & coordination, United Way reporting, social media maintenance, and coordination of the annual Christmas Campaign.

Responsibilities

 

  •  Responsible for the planning and coordination of five (5) major events throughout the Lehigh Valley
  • Responsible to maintain social media feeds and contact lists
  • Responsible to maintain the viability for the website for The Salvation Army in the Lehigh Valley
  • Responsible for United Way reporting
  • Responsible for the coordination of Christmas Activities throughout the Lehigh Valley (Angel Tree and Toys for Tots)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or two to three years’ experience in event planning and coordination preferred
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to relate effectively, reliably, and professionally with corporate professionals and others
  • Must be able to effectively multitask with deadlines, and follow through consistently and strategically
  • Must be well-organized, proactive, able to work independently, and follow up accordingly
  • Must demonstrate good judgment, leadership characteristics, and work well as part of a team
  • Must be computer proficient, able to easily and effectively use email, Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Publisher), and donor and volunteer management database/software
  • Must have a valid PA driver’s license and be willing to travel as needed, flexible on scheduling (including attendance at early morning, evening, or weekend meetings/events)
  • Adherence to AFP Code of Ethics
  • Adherence to The Salvation Army’s Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153, to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check.
