Overview

Provide members/clients an individual training program that is tailored to the needs, wants, and desires of each client; based on their health history, test results and fitness goals.

 

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Assess client’s needs by performing an evaluation of their strength, flexibility, posture and cardiovascular endurance.
  2. Develop a personal training program based on assessment results, the client’s personal goals, their health history and any disclosed medical considerations.
  3. Establish and appropriately progress client-training programs taking into consideration any disclosed medical conditions.
  4. Develop a client base; schedule and maintain appointments.
  5. Attend at least one industry conference per year and keep certifications current.
  6.  Present both staff and member training sessions on a rotating basis with new material or a review of current literature and trends.
  7. Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions.
  8. Complete knowledge of the facility, staff, services, fees and hours or operation.
  9. Positively promote and contribute to the growth of the overall training program through consistent, goal-directed contact of members and potential referral sources such as member, clinical and physician contacts.
  10. Document both medical emergencies and non-medical incidents on appropriate incident reports.
  11. Attend weekly/monthly staff meetings.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position

Qualifications

Education Requirements

 

High school diploma or GED required. 

Bachelor degree in a health/fitness field preferred.  

At least one current certification that is accredited by the NCCA required, ex: ACSM, ACE, NSCA, NASM.

 

Work Experience

 

Prior work experience or internship in the fitness industry preferred.

 

Other Qualifications

 

  • Must have the ability to confidently speak and instruct groups of people consisting of individuals with varying age, experience, competency and cultural backgrounds.
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office and similar applications are preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Must have ability to work and relate well with people.
  • Must have or be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within first 30 days of employment.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds, bending, standing, walking.
