Overview

This position is responsible for Material Assistance Services at the CAWW center.  Material assistance services include writing clothing and furniture vouchers, filling food pantry orders and registration for all seasonal programs.  This position will work in harmony with the CAWW ministry team to carry out The Salvation Army’s mission and ministry. This position requires the ability to communicate in both Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis intervention and direct material assistance to clients who need case work services.
  • Provide intake and case work for programs operated through the Material Assistance Program including but not limited to Choice Food Pantry, EFSP, CSFP, Citizen’s Energy Heat Share, Dollar Energy Neighbor to Neighbor, Christmas Cheer, Jackets to Jackets and others as requested.
  • Ability to drive a box truck for food pick-up.  (No  CDL  required.)
  • Place and pickup food pantry orders on an as needed basis, stock food pantry, maintain upkeep of food pantry, and assist clients to walk through and pick food choices. 
  • Maintain and compile service statistics on all clients.  Complete voucher reconciliation paperwork. 
  • Respond to all Material Assistance/Direct Service phone calls, walk-ins and inquiries.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to uphold and support The Salvation Army’s mission and ministry.
  • Associates Degree in Social Work or related field or at least 2 years experience in a social work setting.
  • Bi-Lingual skills in English and Spanish and the ability to translate.
  • Valid Ohio Driver License and the ability to maintain driving privileges per Salvation Army insurance standards.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to drive The Salvation Army box truck.  No CDL required.
