Responsibilities

  • Involvement in the total Program with willingness to help in all areas as needed, including dining room, outdoor/indoor activities, children with problems, daily assembly, devotions, etc. 
  • Promote observance of moral, spiritual and ethical codes affecting program participants and staff. 
  • Attend and contribute to Program Leadership & General Staff Meetings. 
  • Responsible for sharing with the Program Directors, all matters of mutual concern relating to the total welfare of the Program. 
  • Responsible to complete Orientation Sessions and attend all parent meetings. 
  • Responsible for the leadership and guidance of assigned program participants and your assigned staff. 
  • Responsible for, in conjunction with the Program Director, for the planning of assigned group’s schedule. 
  • Assume responsibility for the health, cleanliness, good habits, welfare and happiness of all program participants and staff, but especially those under your direct supervision. 
  • Maintain a high level of interaction with program participants and staff; also be a constructive member of the Leadership contributing in every possible way to the health, harmony and happiness of the Brownsville GAINS Program family. 
  • Voice criticisms to the Program Directors first and respond positively to their directives, thereafter. 
  • Ability to communicate and work with groups of various ages and skill levels, and provide necessary instruction to program participants and/or staff. 
  • Physical ability to respond appropriately and quickly to situations requiring first aid. 
  • Cognitive and communicative abilities to plan and conduct activities that achieve camper development objectives. 
  • Ability to identify and respond to hazards. Must be able to assist program participants and staff in emergencies. 
  • Responsible to assist Program Directors with oversight of Participant Behavior Management – including collection and review of reports; should strictly enforce behavior management guidelines 
  • Ability to communicate and work with groups of various ages and skill levels, and provide necessary instruction to program participants and/or staff. 
  • Cognitive and communicative abilities to plan and conduct activities that achieve camper development objectives. 
  • Assist the Assistant Program Director with the organization, direction, administration and instruction of a meaningful music program geared to all ages, interest and abilities of the program participants, both male and female. 
  • Teach any and all music related courses, as assigned. 
  • Assume responsibility, in conjunction with the Assistant Program Director and Program Director, for musical equipment. 
  • Assume responsibility for the Chapel, proper use of supplies, maintaining inventory and requesting additional supplies as needed. 
  • Cultivate an understanding of good musicianship among program participants and staff. 
  • Responsible, in conjunction with the Assistant Program Director for the coordination & organization of the Closing Program. 
  • Consult with the Assistant Program Director and set-up a weekly activity schedule  

Qualifications

  • One Year Experience in Youth or Camp work and/or group work experience in child-orientated arts 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Minimum of 6 months supervisory experience
