  • Overview

    The Operations Assistant will serve in a critical support role to the Corps Officers. They will be intimately and integrally involved in the daily operations of the Corps and the carrying out of the Mission of The Salvation Army. They will be heavily involved in generating revenue for the ongoing execution of the Mission of The Salvation Army locally.


    • Prepare and type correspondence, etc., for Corps Officers, and other staff as assigned by Corps Officers. This will include corps bulletins, newsletter, reports, etc.
    • Answer and direct phone calls to appropriate areas
    • Ensure general files up-to-date and in order, including Corps inventories.
    • Assist with keeping personnel files up-to-date and in order.
    • Distribute and open incoming mail. Handle outgoing mail procedures.
    • Keep calendar up-to-date to correspond with corps officers, corps activities, community center activities and day care activities.
    • Assist with income & expense reporting, as directed
    • Serve as a secretary to committee meetings as assigned, record minutes, send notices, etc.
    • Order office supplies and equipment; prepare estimates and requisitions, as directed.
    • Keep general office area in good order.
    • Maintain orderly computer files and back-ups.
    • Responsible for marketing of facility and generating revenue via facility rentals, to meet quarterly targets
    • Responsible for processing all facility rental requests through approved procedure and serve as Coordinator (host) for all events
    • Responsible to ensure events are adequately staffed and resourced with equipment
    • Assist in any other areas as assigned by corps officers.
    • Provide support to the Community Engagement department, as requested by the Director of Community Engagement
    • To facilitate, in every way possible, the mission of The Salvation Army, at the direction of the Corps Officers.  


    • An Associate Degree (Baccalaureate preferred) in the area of Business Management or Secretarial Science or a High School Diploma and at least 3 years of similar experience
    • Must have experience in marketing and/or event planning
    • Ability to read and write effectively; follow written instructions, adhere to policy and procedure of the organization (The Salvation Army)
    • Assist with the effective flow of work through the general office for Facility Operations
    • Receive public on behalf of the Salvation Army and assist by directing to appropriate areas.
    • Ability to maintain the highest standard of professionalism and confidentiality during and after employment, in all matters.
    • Must pass all required background checks and annual physical
    • Valid Driver’s License
