The Clinical Trauma Focused Therapist will administer trauma informed clinical services including the provision of domestic violence services, formalized trauma assessments, home/community based therapy, parent and community education, and clinically facilitated group therapy. This position will collaborate with the Early Head Start Program.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee intakes for all referrals
  • Provide clinical counseling, assessment and intervention including parent education, case management, group and recreational therapy and community education
  • Initiate and maintain regular contact with assigned clients
  • Devise and implement individual intervention plans
  • Provide court documentation and testimony as warranted
  • Present cases for intra-agency consultation, in addition to participating in regularly held department staff meetings, case conferences, supervision, and in-service training sessions
  • Collaborate effectively with Early Head Start Staff and other Salvation Army program staff to integrate service data into program planning systems
  • Collaborate effectively with outside services and agencies
  • Compilation of all required statistical and evaluation data, grant reports and monthly reports, responsible for meeting grant requirements, program monitoring and evaluation
  • All other duties as assigned or requested by Director including but not limited to: Working as part of an integrated service team with other public and private agencies and programs
  • Represent The Salvation Army and Child Welfare Services in a professional manner in the community at meetings, trainings, and assigned groups
  • Demonstrate cultural competence, as well as integrate understanding into daily responsibilities and participate in meeting the objectives of The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services Strategic Plan

Qualifications

  • M.S.W. or Master’s Degree in another clinical field with a license of limited permit
  • Requires background and/or training in dynamics of domestic violence, trauma and child development
  • Must have valid license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements
  • Must have access to own vehicle during work hours
  • Minimum of three years of related experience.  E.g. Social Worker, Case Worker, Program Manager, Coordinator

  • Able to substitute for other program staff in case of emergency and fulfill job requirements, maintain flexible schedule as required to perform duties
