Overview

Position: Weekend Intake Worker

Department:  The Eliza Shirley House (Red Shield Annex Building, 715 N. Broad St, Philadelphia)

Availability of Position: Immediately

Schedule: Part Time; 12:00p-8:00pm

Reporting Relationship: Weekend Manager

Salary andGrade: $12.50 per hour; 73 Non-Exempt

Responsibilities

Description of Position:        The WE Intake Worker is responsible for assessing families who are requiring emergency placement in the city’s housing programs over the weekend. Typical daily responsibilities include checking the computer data bank (HMIS) to see if a person fits the requirements to enter the housing system, conducting an intake assessment interview, calling other city housing programs for available space and processing required documentation.

 

The WE Intake worker will also assist at the front desk reception area, conduct building checks, assist House Management staff and ensure residents are following rules and regulations. The WE Intake Worker performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:   High School Diploma or GED; One (1) year experience working in the social service field.  Must be an independent self-starter .Must have good customer service skills, and an ability to get along well with all people.  Must be able to exercise patience and be respectful of residents, staff, and guests.  Must be fluent in Microsoft word.  Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks:   PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Must have an understanding of, and appreciation for, the Mission of The Salvation Army.
