Schedule: Full time, generally 8:00 am to 4:00 pm flexible as needed to support employment
Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Philadelphia County Assistant Program Director
Salary and Grade: $11.33 per hour; 72 Non-Exempt
Position Overview: This position is a non-exempt position with responsibility for providing and assisting in the coordination of day/vocational supports for individuals in the Philadelphia Community Options Program.
Description of Position:
This position is a non-exempt position with responsibility for providing and assisting in the coordination of day/vocational supports for individuals in the Philadelphia Community Options Program. The Community Support Specialist I (CSS I) is responsible for supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities to integrate into the community, specifically through engagement in volunteer activities, paid employment and other meaningful community activities.
He/ she is responsible for surveying the community labor market and contacting potential employers to identify jobs and volunteer activities consistent with the assessed skills, needs, and interests of the individuals served. This employee connects individuals with intellectual disabilities with jobs and volunteer activities and assists them to maintain those positions by providing transportation, continued skill development and on-going contact with the employer, management and the individuals’ support teams. Completes progress notes, job development and daily paperwork and attendance records. Attends individuals’ planning meetings as requested. Supports all Residential clients in Community Options Day Program setting by assuming role of Direct Support Professional whenever needed.
Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years. Experience with persons with Developmental Disabilities. A valid driver’s license is also required. Ability to effectively communicate and work with persons we provide services to, management, staff, families, community employers, case managers, other service providers and funding sources in a respectful and courteous manner.
