Overview

TITLE:  Resident Advisor                   

DEPARTMENT:  Wilkes-Barre Transitional Shelter

REPORTS TO: Director/Corps Officer

SALARY and GRADE: $9.10 p/hour; 71 Non-Exempt                       

SCHEDULE: Part-Time under 20 hours per week as needed

 

DPW / CPSL JOB PARAMETERS: Mandated Reporter: YES   (If yes, minimum requirement is required.)   Duties include direct care for minor(s): YES (If yes, all PA Act 153 Clearances must be completed before work can begin.

Responsibilities

The Resident Advisor will assist the residents in fulfilling their day-to-day activities and responsibilities of the program. Responsible for the condition of the house, safety, enforcing rules, cleaning, general office, clerical and phone work, meal preparation and service as well as reporting on residents’ progress, incidents and successes and communicating these to Case Management staff and Corp Officers.

Qualifications

  •  A high school diploma or GED.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every three years thereafter.
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
