Overview

Location/Department: Greater Hartford Area Services (Hartford, CT)

Status: Seasonal Full-time, Non-Exempt (October 23, 2017 to January 12, 2018)

Hours Per Week: 35

Schedule:  Mon – Fri, 8:30 AM-4:00 PM (evenings and weekends as needed). Must be willing to work mornings of Thanksgiving and Christmas

 

Scope & Purpose of Position:

To provide support and assistance to the Office Manager during the Christmas Season with holiday programs such as Angel Tree, Adopt Family, and Holiday Meals which includes answering phones, sending correspondence, coordinating volunteers, and other activities related to the Christmas Season.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordination of holiday programs such as Angel Tree, Adopt Family, and Holiday Meals
  • Answer phones and direct calls appropriately, taking detailed messages when needed

  • Register volunteers and provide direction regarding duties

  • Maintain files and appropriate documentation

  • Assist Office Manager with various administrative tasks, such as paper and email correspondence, mailings, and schedules

  • Provide relief at reception desk as needed

Qualifications

  • High School diploma
  • Experience working in an office setting, non-profit preferred
  • Professional and courteous telephone demeanor
  • Works well within deadlines
  • Must have computer skills and be organized
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Will respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army. The individual is not required to embrace the tenets of faith, but he/she is required to promote and respect the mission of The Salvation Army.
