Overview

The Salvation Army Eastern Territorial Headquarters has an opening for a Web Application Developer located in West Nyack, NY. Reporting to the Assistant Information Director for Application Development, this individual should have strong skills in single page web application development, in creating and consuming restful web services and good customer service skills. A strong aptitude for learning new technology and ability to troubleshoot existing applications is desirable. This position requires effective communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to teach users and technical staff the developed applications.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Design, develop, and test web applications and web sites to meet the territory, department, and user requirements.
  • Update or convert existing applications to modern design and functionality while maintaining appropriate security.
  • Participate in requirements gathering, documenting the scope and requirements of project.
  • Analyze requirements to design and develop UI to satisfy requests with engaging UX.
  • Design and develop RESTful APIs
  • Maintain and enhance annual website and application versions.
  • Support and troubleshoot as level II support.
  • Document application process for future maintenance and upgrades.
  • Maintain technology and industry job knowledge to acquire new skills and share expertise with others.
  • Practice software development life cycle.
  • Work closely with back-end developers and data security personnel to move programs and systems from test to production status.
  • Ability to shift focus based on changing priorities.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience with the following is preferred:

  • Development tools/frameworks: Angualar 2, Spring-Boot, Spring Web MVC, Spring Security, JPA 2, Hibernate, Maven
  • Development languages: Java, Typescript, Javascript
  • Markup Languages: HTML, CSS with responsive and mobile design
  • Databases: Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL
  • Artistic eye for web site/application design
  • Experience developing applications for cloud deployment
  • Experience working as part of an agile team
