Location/Department: Newport Corps (Newport, RI)

FLSA Status: Part-time, Non-exempt

Hours Per Week: 9

Schedule: 4:00 pm-7:00 pm, Monday, Wednesday & Friday


Scope & Purpose of Position:

To prepare well-planned programs of physical activity and healthy nutrition discussions for The Kids Club.

  • Prepare well-planned programs of physical activity and healthy nutrition discussions.

  • Lead physical exercise, incorporating fun games, for Exercise and Nutrition Program of The Kids Club.

  • Teach healthy eating habits and basic nutritious knowledge.

  • Measure the fitness level of each child at the beginning and at the end of each term.

  • Track attendance of each child.

  • Communicate with parents and supervisor on progress of each child.

  • Maintain control of storage and use of property of The Salvation Army.

  • Plan and teach safe, age appropriate, and effective kids’ exercises and activity sessions.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Great organizational skills
  • Demonstrate good personal techniques and form when teaching sessions
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • High interest in fitness and nutrition
