Overview

The New Jersey Division of the Salvation Army is seeking a part-time (20 hours a week) Volunteer Services Assistant. The Volunteer Services Assistant is responsible for the Volgistics volunteer recruitment and maintenance of the volunteer website. This includes working with the corps officers and volunteers in promoting the volunteer program. The position goal is to significantly scale up volunteer leverage enabling The Salvation Army New Jersey Division to fulfill its mission; to become a model volunteer program and volunteer experience of choice. This position’s success should ultimately result in volunteers with a deeper engagement and commitment to The Salvation Army’s mission.

 

Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma

 

  1. Two (2) years prior relevant work experience to include, but not limited to prior experience in volunteer services or human resources management (recruiting and/or training).

 

  1. Demonstrated leadership abilities and strategic thinking

 

  1. Able to demonstrate general background knowledge of various customer service areas to include: customer services, reception and information services, meeting/event planning.

 

  1. General knowledge of community relations and/or marketing.

 

  1. Able to multi-task, organize and prioritize work to meet pressing demands in order to meet deadlines. High attention to detail, consistent reliable follow through and able to prioritize and manage multiple projects and meet established deadlines.

 

  1. Must have excellent computer skills; familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access) and a general working knowledge of web-based computer systems and email communication systems.

 

  1. Demonstrate good judgment, resourcefulness, flexibility, attention to detail and problem solving.

 

  1. Possess sensitivity and awareness of diverse cultural perspectives and the ability to work with diverse populations.

 

  1. Service oriented team player who can take initiative, work independently and quickly adapt in a fast paced environment.

 

  1. Accurate and precise handling of qualitative and quantitative data.

 

  1. Ability to work well with other employees, customers and donors while maintaining the standards of The Salvation Army.

 

  1. Must have a current valid driver’s license and be approved to drive Salvation Army vehicles.

 

  1. Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the mission of The Salvation Army.
