Overview

The Program Assistant to Kids Café programs is responsible for the successful operation of the After-school and summer day camp program. He/She recruits children and volunteer from nearby colleges and High Schools to assist with reading and math. He/She will also train and manage them and ensure a quality program. This position is requires acknowledgement of The Salvation Army Mission.  

Hours: 25 Hours/ week (Monday- Friday, 1:30pm to 6:30 pm.) Additional hours for Corps Cadet Class, planning or special projects may request from the Corps Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in supervising all aspects of Homework Club Program and summer day camp, including volunteer.  
  • Ability to plan and implement activities appropriate to age group and programs goals. 
  • Teach and lead the Corps Cadet, Adventure Corps, Sunbeams, Girl Guard Programs following TSA “Booth Youth” guidelines.  
  • Carry out established rules of behavior and discipline. 
  • Maintain program data and children’s files. 
  • Develops and implements after school policies and procedures.  
  • Participate in the planning and leadership of regular and special youth worship services.  
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in elementary education or related field preferred. 
  • Two year experience working with Children and Youth Ministry.  
  • Strong knowledge of Computer software and systems a necessity  
  • Excellent understanding and written communication skills (Math, basic algebra sciences etc.) 
  • Excellent understanding of child development 
  • Current verification of CPR, First Aids. 
  • Willingness to learn new concepts/ ideas.  
  • Must be bilingual (English/ Spanish)  
  • Ability to teach music and creative arts class
