Department: PSSM - The Eliza Shirley House, 1320 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA

Availability of Position: Immediately

Schedule: Full time; Tuesday - Saturday; 3:30 pm – 11:30 pm

Reporting Relationship: Assistant Director

Salary/Grade: $14.30 per hour; 75 Non-Exempt

               

Description of Position: The Assistant Shift Supervisor is responsible for supporting the shift supervisor in maintaining the shifts scheduled duties and ensuring residents adhere to rules and regulations.

Description of Position: The Assistant Shift Supervisor is responsible for supporting the shift supervisor in maintaining the shifts scheduled duties and ensuring residents adhere to rules and regulations.

 

As Assistant: A typical evening requires assistance with the intake reception, handing out medications, distributing tokens, providing snacks to children and assisting the general needs of the residents. As the assistant, you would monitor the residential floors in the absence of a resident advisor in addition to covering the front desk reception.  The assistant is required to report any immediate building violations to the Shift Supervisor and, as directed, enter it in the Maintenance Log Book.  Complete Log book with any pertinent information gathered on your shift.  Assisting with monthly fire drills.

 

As “Acting” Shift Supervisor: In the absence of the Shift Supervisor, you are responsible for the following: Completing intakes on clients entering the shelter, placing data on computers HMIS system, and assigning clients a room. Completing building checks, ensuring that staff are following their assigned duties and reporting any infractions, assist staff with resident’s concerns and complete absenteeism forms. Complete Log book with any pertinent information gathered on your shift.  Completing evening bed check and  reporting curfew violations. Monitoring rooms and making sure residents keep their assigned area clean and tidy.  Ensure that staff is discarding out dated clothing, assisting residents with their laundry and review and assign staff to assist with submitted donation requests.

Qualifications

Requirements: High school diploma or GED; with at least two (2) years supervisory experience.  Must have good customer service skills and an ability to get along well with people.  Must be able to exercise patience and be respectful of residents, staff, and guests.  Must have basic computer skills.  Must be an independent, self-starter with strong organizational skills, problem solving ability and work a flexible schedule that may include weekends and holidays.  Verbal and written communicational skills are essential. An appreciation for, and understanding of, the philosophy and mission of The Salvation Army.  Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks:   PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
