Overview

The International Social Justice Commission (ISJC) of The Salvation Army has an opening for a Part-Time Building Superintendent. This individual will be responsible for ensuring a welcoming environment and clean, secure facility. As a representative of The Salvation Army, this individual must have an understanding of and passion for the organization's mission.

Responsibilities

 Responsbilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Ensure that visitors to the ISJC are greeted and feel welcome.
  • Staff the reception desk, answer telephone, greet visitors with a welcoming attitude and direct them to the appropriate persons as needed.
  • Provide information to those who want to drop off donations.
  • Monitor persons entering the building during special events.
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors and regularly checking electrical appliances to ensure safety.
  • Notify administrator of any possible breaches to security.
  • Assist rental and UN groups that use the building.
  • Provide appropriate help with audio and video equipment.
  • Coordinate, schedule and meet with contractors and/or other providers who come to service the building for regular maintenance and quarterly deep cleaning.
  • Drive to collect ISJC supplies and run errands as needed.
  • Help load and unload ISJC supplies.
  • Maintain a log of all maintenance work done on the property.
  • Maintenance work may include, but not limited to, painting projects, changing light bulbs, changing heating/air conditioning filters and minor repairs.
  • Assist the Administration Officer with special events.
  • Provide other services as required for the efficient functioning of The Salvation Army's International Social Justice Commission.

Qualifications

High School Diploma and 1-3 years of related experience. Strong knowledge of custodial and maintenance equipment and ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Experience with minor plumbing, painting and floor maintenance. Good verbal and written communication skills

 

This is a 25 hour per week, part-time position. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm with occasional evenings. Must have a valid driver's license.
