The Salvation Army is hiring! 

 

We have an immediate opening for a part-time Family Store Clerk in Plattsburgh, NY. 

 

This position is responsible for greeting and helping customers with their purchases, operating the cash register, and sorting and tagging of donated merchandise.  

Responsibilities

  • Assist with sorting, tagging, pricing and hanging of store merchandise.
  • Maintain store (sales area) in good neat and clean order at all times ensuring that items are hung and displayed in a manner which will provide the best potential for sales.
  • Clean restrooms and dressing rooms as needed. Replenish supplies as necessary.
  • Operate cash register, credit card machine and computer program or daily sales reports.
  • Complete daily sales sheet, and prepare deposits.
  • Maintain good customer relations greeting customers as they come into the store.
  • Provide help as needed with unloading and sorting of donated merchandise.
  • Monitor sales trend and adjust merchandise to provide optimum profitability for the store.
  • Attend all required meetings and report any problems or concerns to supervisor or Corps Officers.
  • Follow store operating procedures.
  • Complete other tasks as required by supervisor or Corps Officer.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum one year related experience required.
  • Retail sales/cashier experience a plus
  • Must possess good inter-personal and phone skills
  • Must work well with others and independently
  • Must be able to supervisor and instruct.
  • Safety and situational awareness
  • Must have valid driving license that meets The Salvation Army’s insurance requirements.
