Reporting Relationship: Aquatics Manager

Salary and Grade: $10.00; 71 Non-Exempt

 

Overview of Position:

 

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Supervisor, Lifeguards will monitor activities, observe and provide assistance to swimmers, prevent accidents, protect life and enforce regulations as well as control access to pools, family locker rooms, and lockers.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager, Lifeguards will monitor activities, observe and provide assistance to swimmers, prevent accidents, protect life and enforce regulations as well as control access to pools, family locker rooms, and lockers. Provide first aid when necessary. Assist with implementation of and teach swimming lessons and other aquatics programs. Provide support for swim lessons, record keeping, lesson cards and lesson plans. This position is also required to assist with general facility maintenance and cleaning duties as assigned. Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Able to work weekends/evening hours as needed, and must have willingness and ability to travel. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Swim lesson instruction and water exercise instruction are preferred. Must be at least 16 years of age. A child labor certificate or "work permit" is required for working minors until they reach 18 years of age or graduate high school. Previous customer service work experience helpful. Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be accepted. As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check. Must possess understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army and the RJKCCC.
