This position is a Food Service Aid and will be directly responsible and supervised by the Senior Center Director.
Employee will work 25 hours a week, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 PM, with one paid 15 minute break
Assist in the food service operation under the guidance of the Senior Center Director with the assistance of other Senior Center Staff.
Assist in the coordination of receiving and serving of meals
Assist in the preparation of substitutionary meal with the assistance of other Senior Center Staff
Abide by sanitation safety and nutritional standards as outlined by the State. Proper attire is mandatory according to Board of Health and DSCA rules and regulations. Work with staff to accomplish all tasks within the work day.
Assist with the taking of reservations.
Assist with keep daily records of food ordered, prepared in house (If emergency meals are needed) and consumed.
Assist with taking temperatures of foods served daily and summit to Senior Center Director to be sent to Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs monthly
Assist the Food Service Coordinator receiving, checking, dating and storing food and supplies in an approved manner.
Assist the Food Service Coordinator to keep stock room clean and orderly
Assist and help stored appropriately all breakfast items to be ready for the next day.
Make sure that we serve participants in a friendly and courteous manner
Assist in maintaining proper food temps to ensure safe delivery of meals to homebound participants as well as on site participants. Help pack homebound meals properly with cardboard between containers and hot bricks with the help of other Senior Center Staff
Attend training sessions as assigned by sponsoring agency
Back up for Food Service Coordinator when not in attendance.
Food Service Aid is responsible to Senior Center Director and Commanding Officer to perform any additional assignments under their direction
