Maintain a food service operation under the guidance of the Senior Center Director with the assistance of other Senior Center Staff.
Coordinate with subcontracted caterers company to make sure the meals are delivered on time and they are in accordance with approved menus.
Notify Department of Senior Citizen Affairs Nutritionist when substitutions must be made
In case of Emergency the food service Coordinator will take the necessary steps to prepare a substitutionary meal with the assistance of other Senior Center Staff.
Work with food service staff to meet sanitation safety and nutritional standards as outlined by the State. Proper attire is mandatory according to Board of Health and DSCA rules and regulations. Work with staff to accomplish all tasks within the work day.
Responsible to take reservations and call in to caterer.
Responsible to order catering food according to approved menus by County Nutritionist, and number of meals requested in reservations.
Responsible to purchase all additional food items for substitutionary meals in case of emergency and other food items needed in a daily bases not covered by the catering service as coffee, tea, sugar, sweet n low, etc.
Responsible for informing the Senior Center Director before bread is running low so that Pepperidge Farm can be called for additional inventory.
Keep daily records of food ordered, prepared in house (If emergency meals are needed) and consumed.
Take temperatures of foods served daily and summit to Senior Center Director for to be sent to Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs monthly
Food Service Coordinator is responsible to receive, check, date and store food and supplies in an approved manner.
Food Service Coordinator is responsible to keep stock room clean and orderly
Food Service Coordinator is responsible for complete comprehensive monthly inventory. Monthly breakdown of total costs, inventory and cost per meal served.
Summit monthly food cost inventory reports to the Senior Center Director to be sent to Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs (DSCA)
Copy and summit food temperature sheets for catering service and driver at the beginning of the month to Senior Center Director to be sent to DSCA
Prepare vouchers for all food service expenses and submit to bookkeeper.
Before leaving work, make sure that all breakfast items are stored appropriately and ready for the next day.
Make sure that we served participants in a friendly and courteous manner
Maintain proper food temps to ensure safe delivery of meals to homebound participants as well as on site participants. Pack homebound meals properly with cardboard between containers and hot bricks with the help of other Senior Center Staff
Purchase cleaning supplies and paper goods with the approval of Senior Center Director and in consultation with janitor.
Attend training sessions as assigned by sponsoring agency
Back up for other foodservice employees when not in attendance.
Food Service Coordinator is responsible for opening center at 7 a.m.
