  • Overview

    • To conduct an evangelical ministry with the specific purpose of introducing all guests and clients to Jesus Christ.
    • To provide an environment in which families can grow and mature in faith and holiness.
    • To lead and supervise various programs and outreaches of the church.
    • To invest in the lives of children, teens and adults, developing and maintaining relational ministry opportunities.
    • To lead people to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through creative social service ministries.


    • Involvement in total corps (church/community center) program – including youth programming, senior ministries, and community outreaches
    • To assist Corps Officers (lead pastor) with correspondence, phone calls, deposits, money counting, Sunday services, program preparation, event planning, etc.
    • Identify community needs and design relevant ministry programs around those needs.
    • Plan, prepare, organize, coordinate, recruit volunteers, and lead VBS
    • Be prepared to participate in Sunday Worship, teach/coordinate Sunday School, and assist in pickups as assigned by corps officer
    • Develop and maintain an intensive relational ministry with the youth congregation of the corps and the Kids Club (afterschool) program.
    • Plan, prepare, organize, coordinate, recruit volunteers, and lead Kids’ Club
    • Conduct visitation to parents and families of Kids Club.
    • Reach out to the community to bring new families into the Corps
    • Make connection with other local churches for possible partnership opportunities
    • Develop, design, maintain, and lead programs and ministries to enhance the spiritual, physical, emotional health of all participants
    • Provide leadership for corps delegations at divisional (greater New York City area) and territorial (Eastern seaboard) events as assigned by the corps officer – including assisting in the promotion, registration, transportation, and attendance of these events.
    • Be available to chaperone for divisional events – such as Youth Councils (teen retreat weekend), FET/SET (regional holiness gathering), Star Search (music & drama recital), etc.
    • Develop and maintain an active recruitment and training program for youth leaders within the corps setting
    • Assist with all Seasonal/Holiday Activities including Kettle work (annual red kettle fundraising campaign), angel tree (holiday gift collection for underprivileged families), and distributions.
    • Assist in the planning, promotion, and implementation of corps summer youth ministries including the recruitment of campers for Star Lake Camp, day camps, or other possible ministries.
    • Assist with social ministries – including food pantry, holiday distributions, among other socio-economic needs and programs.
    • Develop social media presence for the Brooklyn Bay Ridge Corps (church/community center) – through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, website, etc.
    • Availability to open building for outside groups
    • Develop activity and host short-term missions teams
    • Coordinate summer camping attendance
    • Please note that all said duties are essential to the position but other responsibilities and duties may be necessary to the overall enhancement of the mission of The Salvation Army as assigned by Corps Officers.
