  • Responsibilities

    • Involvement in the total camp program with willingness to help in all areas as needed, including dining room, outdoor/indoor activities, children with problems, daily assembly, etc.
    • Promote observance of moral emphasis of the program affecting campers and staff.
    • Responsible to complete Orientation Sessions and attend all parent meetings.
    • Attend and contribute to Program Leadership & General Staff Meetings.
    • Responsible for sharing with the Camp Directors and/or Corps Officers, all matters of mutual concern relating to the total welfare of the Camp Program.
    • Supervision of all Summer Camp Food Service Staff.
    • Ensure that all foods are at the required temperatures, in accordance with NYC DOMH Regulations.
    • Ensure that all Food Safety Practices are in place, at all times.
    • Ensure that all meals begin at there designated times and contact the Program Directors immediately, if a problem arises that will delay the meal.
    • Train staff and campers in management of food service, as it pertains to them.
    • Responsible to assist in all aspects of food service that pertain to Brownsville Creative Arts Campers.
    • Supervise set up and clean up of dining area.
    • Inspect dining area and supervise during meals. Address any roughhousing, inappropriate behavior or behavior that is unacceptable, with the staff members present.
    • Be mindful of the daily attendance numbers for each group and inform the cooks so adequate food is prepared.
    • Keep and verify accurate meal counts, in accordance with the USDA Summer Food Service Program regulations.
    • Responsible for keeping daily inventories of stock, including milk, dry food and non-food supplies.
    • Make sure the dining hall is clean and ready for each meal.
    • Assign Food Service Staff to specific jobs and/or areas.
    • Be committed to the development of campers spiritually, physically, educationally, emotionally and socially.
    • Have a willingness to work with all staff members regardless of their positions.
    • Voice criticisms to the Program Director first and respond positively to the direction of the Director.
    • Be in accord with the camp aims and policies, being loyal to camp at all times.
    • Assist where needed for the benefit of the campers and the smooth operation of camp.
    • Accurately complete and securely store all necessary reports for State and/or Federal Government inspection.
    • Complete a Camp Debrief at the end of the season to include areas of concern for following camp season.


    • Associates Degree in Business Administration preferred, but not required
    • Minimum of one year Food Service managerial experience preferred
    • Experience in a camp setting or an institutional food service setting
    • Ability to supervise campers and staff
    • Ability to work well with others
    • Availability for the entire duration of the Summer Camp Season
