Overview

The Social Ministries Aide will serve in a critical support role to the Corps Officers and Social Ministries Coordinator, under the direction of the Food Pantry Program Coordinator. The Food Pantry Aide shall perform functions related to Social Services and the Food Pantry, including distribution of pantry orders (as directed).

Responsibilities

  • Involvement in the total Corps program with willingness to help in all areas as needed, including dining room, outdoor/indoor activities, children with problems, daily assembly, etc. 
  • Promote observance of the moral and ethical codes affecting the Brownsville Corps 
  • Attend and contribute to General Staff Meetings. 
  • Responsible for sharing with your immediate supervisor and/or Corps Officers, all matters of mutual concern relating to the total welfare of the Corps 
  • Follow individual work schedule provided 
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the pantry and other work areas, assigned 
  • Complete any and all assignments in a timely manner 
  • Preparation of all pantry bags for distribution 
  • Receive deliveries for the pantry and maintain an inventory 
  • Provide coverage for the front desk, as directed

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; in lieu of education  
  • Ability to read and write with ability to keep simple inventory of supplies on hand 
  • Friendly, cheerful personality and ability to maintain professional relationship with co-workers & clients 
  • Ability to maintain good sanitary condition of Food Pantry 
  • In good physical health and able to lift 50 pounds (Annual Physical is required) 
  • Mature, trustworthy, self-motivated and of good character
