  • Overview

    • Able to represent The Salvation Army's spiritual and musical ministry along with the social mission in all spheres of influence. 
    • Must perform all duties in compliance with Salvation Army policies and regulations.  
    • It should be noted that the duties described herein are the essential functions of the position, but other duties necessary to the overall enhancement of Salvation Army service and mission may be required. 
    • Enhance the environment and ministry opportunities, so that all can grow and mature in their faith and grow in holiness. 
    • As a non-ordained ministry position, the communications made in confidence to the Youth Music Coordinator are not considered "privileged" under the law. It may be necessary that information given in confidence would be required to be shared in legal proceedings. Therefore, this fact must be shared with those who disclose information in confidence with you.


    • Develop and implement an evangelism training program for teens, which would involve contemporary and traditional forms of music  
    • Conduct weekly rehearsal times 
    • Participate in the development along with the implementation of public & seasonal concerts, Sunday Praise & Worship 
    • Develop and instruct music theory at the following levels; beginner, novice, and advanced  
    • Provide musical instruction including but not limited to brass, percussion, string, piano, at the following levels; beginner, novice, and advanced  
    • Provide vocal instructions to teens and preteens at the following levels; beginner, novice, and advanced  
    • Provide and maintain an organized, systematic, and purposeful place for teens and preteens 
    • Develop and maintain new and traditional forms of musical expression 
    • Develop and maintain contacts with youth at local campuses which maintain music organizations where such contact is permitted 
    • Develop and maintain classes to encourage already formed and potential new musical leadership 
    • Develop and maintain a relational mentoring program within the corps for teens and younger adults  
    • Attend all youth worker "in-service" training sessions conducted by The Salvation Army Music Department or The Eastern Territory School for Music Leadership 
    • Recruit and maintain a support team which consists of mature Christian adults  
    • Develop and maintain music programs which provide musical information to young people throughout your sphere of influence located within the community


    • Must be a uniform wearing Salvationist with a commitment to evangelical outreach and discipleship 
    • Have an Associate Degree or 5 years of Experience 
    • Must have basic office skills including use of computer. 
    • Must have at least 2 years of work experience with children and youth ministries. 
    • Self-motivated, well-organized, demonstrates initiative, able to prioritize responsibility and lead others.
