  • Overview

    Receive all direct all incoming calls, greet and direct all visitors/clients to correct destination and complete all duties as assigned by the Corps Officer.


    • Become knowledgeable about the various programs and departments and be able to refer individuals when appropriate.
    • Be responsible for answering the phone in the Social Services Offices and direct to appropriate personnel.
    • Take messages when necessary and follow through with delivery of written messages in a timely Manner.
    • Type all correspondence, fliers, posters, etc. in a neat accurate and timely manner.
    • Process all incoming and outgoing mail/packages for Corps and Offices.
    • Maintain an up to date filing system of all client records.
    • Maintain up to date statistics for proper recording each month.
    • Be responsible for dealing with Social Service clients as it relates to food, vouchers and referrals.
    • Submit food order for the food pantry in a timely manner.
    • Maintain the food pantry in a clean manner and stack shelves with food daily. 
    • Be responsible for the maintaining of the Corps bulletin boards in lobby area making sure that all the information is current and relevant to the Ministries of the Corps and change out décor with the seasons/holidays.
    • Be responsible for the packing of all Salvation Army literature in the designated areas as directed by the Corps Officer.
    • Be involved with all aspects of the Thanksgiving/Christmas Season’s intake and distribution.
    • Engage in appropriate conversation with members of the general public and other staff members.
    • Recognize the spiritual need of persons which may require referral to the Corps Officers.
    • Assist with the packing of meals and the distribution of meals when asked as it relates to the
    • Corps feeding program.
    • Perform any other tasks as assigned by Corps officers. 


    • High School Diploma
    • Knowledge of Microsoft applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Able to type quickly and with accuracy
    • Must have great organizational skills
    • Ability to work and relate well to people of all cultural backgrounds
    • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English
    • Must be professional and courteous
    • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Receptionist/Corps Helper
