Responsibilities

  • Assists all who come to the front desk
  • Performs clerical duties
  • Sorts and distributes daily mail
  • Assists in the daily distribution of residents newspapers
  • Accepts packages and faxes and notifies intended recipient
  • Answers switchboard calls and forwards calls or takes messages as appropriate
  • Announces all incoming visitors, including aides, family, friends, and delivery persons, to the resident before allowing access to the building
  • Has all non-employees working in building sign in/out and provides a visitor pass to them
  • Confirms the proper identification of visiting friends or relatives before allowing them to go to a resident’s apartment who is temporarily away from home
  • Reminds residents to sign out for meals and to sign “Going Away” slips when they intend to be gone overnight
  • Notifies family when residents go to the hospital
  • Follows procedures for residents who are on the “Missing from Meal” list
  • Makes sure that a resident borrowing extra keys signs the keys out and then back in when the keys are returned
  • Is available to work a variety of different shifts, including the possibility of overnight shifts
  • Copies programs and weekly bulletins as appropriate
  • Monitors security camera videos and reports any suspicious activity to the supervisor or the administration
  • Should the fire alarm sound, contacts and informs the Maintenance Department which floor the fire alarm is ringing on
  • Registers residents’ overnight visitors
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred but will consider individual based on experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively, by written and verbal means
  • Basic computer skills are a plus
