Responsibilities

  • Plan & lead Youth Bible Study
  • Plan & lead Corps Cadets
  • Plan & lead Teen/Young Adult Sunday School Class
  • Record any youth related statistics and give a monthly report to the Corps Officer
  • Oversee, develop and participate in youth programs, and support all other corps programming.
  • Plan and implement VBS programs with the responsibilities for bridging students into evangelistic and discipleship ministries
  • Help organize Children and Youth Sundays and develop the program outline throughout the year.
  • Develop, recruit teachers, teach as assigned and fill in as needed for Junior Church Program
  • Offer pastoral care to Youth
  • Participate in all Corps, Territorial, and Divisional events with youth attending (i.e. FET, SET, Youth Councils, Young Adult Retreat, Star Search, Star Lake Camp Concerts and Finales)
  • Pick up and drop of Children to camp as needed
  • Organize and plan Youth Rally and other events as an ongoing and aggressive evangelical ministry with the specific purpose of introducing all children and teens to Jesus Christ
  • Enhance the environment and ministry opportunities, so that children and youths can grow and mature in their faith and grow into a way of holiness
  • Organize, set up, & train volunteers for youth carnivals, and other fundraising events for corps programs and world services
  • Develop with the Corps Officer a EDS program
  • Reach out to visitors, clients, and volunteers to bring new children and youth into the Corps.
  • Confidentiality is essential for this position. It is understood that as a non-ordained ministry position, that any communication made in confidence to you as Youth Ministry Director are not considered "privileged"under the law. It may be necessary that information given in confidence would be required to be shared in legal proceedings. Therefore, this fact must be shared with those who share information in confidence with you.
  • Help with meal/snacks preparation, set-up, and clean-up.
  • Help with all seasonal Activities in the corps such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Kettles, etc.
  • Be prepared to participate in Sunday Worship as assigned by Corps Officers.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with Salvation Army policies and regulations.
  • It should be noted that the above duties are the essential functions of the position, however other duties may be deemed necessary by the corps officer for the overall enhancement of The Salvation Army  
  • UYL Program Director
  • The Director of Youth and Outreach Ministries will also be responsible for overseeing and managing the UYL (Middle School program) to ensure the effectiveness of the program.
  • He/she will monitor and support his/her staff and implement student curriculum activities.
  • Familiarity with the student population served is essential.

 

 

Qualifications

  • A Uniformed Salvationist in good standing, with a willingness to soldier at the Brooklyn Bedford Temple Corps
  • Must uphold Biblical standards in personal and professional life, including fiscal support of the Corps Ministry
  • Must have two 2 years of experience in working with children.
  • Is a uniform wearing Salvationist or in the process to be
  • Must have a commitment to evangelical Christian outreach
  • Is self-motivated and hard-working
  • Computer Skills – Microsoft Office, Power Point and Lotus Note.
  • Commitment to Participation in training programs and learning Biblical, theological and ministry applications.
  • Commitment to the Mission of the Salvation Army.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus.
