Housekeeper/Cook has the overall responsibility for the general upkeep of the facility, cooking of all meals, snacks, food shopping and orders, also stock rotation of food. Must obtain DOH Food Handlers Certificate.


  • Plans and prepares daily meals.
  • Organizes and assists residents at meal times.
  • Maintains upkeep of household.
  • Purchases food supplies.
  • Responsible for program funds.
  • Reports needs for program funds.
  • Reports as indicated needs for service/repairs and inventory (e.g. specialized maintenance) receipts and financial records for food and supplies.
  • Attendance standards: Monday – Friday 6:00am – 8:00am, 12:00noon – 6:00pm and at the discretion of the Program Coordinator.
  • Maintains inventory.
  • Collaborates with the Dietician and Nurse.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of persons and population served.
  • “Other duties as assigned”.

The essential functions for the job include, but are not limited to, the duties in the job description          



  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Food preparation and housekeeping experience.
  • N.Y.S. Drivers License.
