Overview

The Assistant Program Director will be responsible for assisting the Program Director.

 

Responsibilities

  

  • Substitute for Tutors and/or Enrichment Instructors when they are absent.
  • Assist Program Director in all phases of the GAINS After School Program.
  • Create enrichment lesson plans with the help of the Educational Specialist.
  • Assist in implementing enrichment activities.
  • Help students with homework.
  • Encourage independent study by students.
  • Make sure homework is checked. Be aware of/and reinforce public school curriculum.
  • Provide and project positive reinforcement to problem solving.
  • Treat students with respect – do not scream, degrade, insult, tease or physically abuse children. Encourage mutual respect. Properly supervise students assigned to work with.
  • Discipline students when necessary.
  • Document behavioral reports and other serious infractions. In case of accidents and injuries, a prior Incident/Injury report must be completed immediately and submitted to the Program Director.
  • Do not leave class or group unattended AT ANY TIME. Must have knowledge of the whereabouts of ALL students assigned to you AT ALL TIMES.
  • Help prepare end of month reports for GAINS Coordinator.
  • Assist in recruitment of students, as well as contacting parents when students are absent 3 consecutive days in a month without notice.
  • Help create and maintain student folders. This includes collecting report cards, progress reports, etc.
  • Make sure online attendance is done on daily basis.
  • Attend all staff and parent meetings.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or preferably Associates Degree in the education field
  • 3 years of supervisory experience working with elementary students.
