To maintain the Food pantry, Soup Kitchen and other assistance programs. This position must maintain proper files and statistics as well as assist social service clients as needed



  • Interview clients to determine individuals needs
  • Advocate on behalf of clients, making necessary referrals for service and assistance
  • Serve as liaison between The Salvation Army Bushwick corps and public social service agencies
  • Handle telephone inquiries related to request for services
  • Provide financial assistance to clients following strict guidelines to determine need and approach in providing solutions for each problem/ need presented
  • Responsible for creating and maintain welfare records and files including case management for tracking clients’ needs
  • Maintain statistics to be reported on a monthly statistical report
  • Attend meeting related to job responsibilities e.g. agency networking etc.
  • Assist community center director with the coordination of seasonal activities, programs, services and assistance e.g. Thanksgiving, Christmas etc. Summer camp
  • Compete any other task or duties given by Supervisor


  • High school diploma and at least 2 years of experience in the field of social work
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Lotus Notes
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus
