Overview

The Tutor will manage the program in adherence with the New York State School-Age Child Care regulations and develop and oversee youth programs and activities consistent with the mission of The Salvation Army. The tutor must be prepared to work as part of a team and must be familiar with the student population served.

Responsibilities

  • Attend all required training sessions / classes
  • Accompany students on field trips
  • Teach and discipline children according to Child Care Regulations
  • Get the participation of students in the development and implementation of activities
  • Assist with student performances
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of snacks / meals.
  • Encourage appropriate integration of all children in after-school activities into the Corps congregation.
  • Assist and lead group activities
  • Assist students with homework
  • Assist with general cleaning of all program areas
  • Other responsibilities as the Director deems necessary for the success of the program and students   

Qualifications

  • Must be comfortable and adaptable to working with children and youth.
  • 2-3 years of experience preferred
  • Commitment to evangelical Christian outreach
  • High School Diploma
  • First aid and CPR certified (or must attend training to meet requirements)
