Overview

The Assistant Content Writer/Editor, a temporary part-time position for this fall, will work with the Director of Marketing on all upcoming print and digital communications projects, primarily those related to our division’s Annual Gala in December. The ideal candidate must have excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills; good research and trafficking skills; and an ability to work with designers and printers. The candidate should also possess excellent organizational skills and the ability and willingness to use a digital camera.

Responsibilities

  • Writing and editing copy for our Annual Gala souvenir journal, Gala website pages, and other Gala peripherals.
  • Editing copy for press releases, event scripts, letters, and other written materials generated by the Development Department and its vendors.
  • Proofreading page proofs for our Annual Gala souvenir journal, divisional Annual Report, and related materials
  • Taking photos of Salvation Army activities (kettle sites, etc.)
  • Coordinating delivery dates with printers of Gala-related materials
  • Being ready & available to perform any and all additional administrative support services as needed and required by the Development Department. 

Qualifications

  • B.A. or B.S. in Journalism, Communications, or Public Relations
