Overview

The Bookkeeper applies accounting policies and procedures in accordance with Salvation Army standards for centralized accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and distribute monthly bills to the residents
  • Summarize residents’ payments, and forward record of same to DHQ for entry into Shelby
  • Records other operating income and prepares receipts as needed
  • Prepares income for bank deposits and transacts deposits at the local bank
  • Prepare batches of accounting detail to be submitted to DHQ as needed
  • Secure appropriates approvals for vendor invoices
  • Assures timely delivery of material to DHQ where vendor invoices are entered into the computerized system (Shelbu) and checks are cut.
  • Review weekly time clock punches and time off entries for Williams residence employees in Stromberg – Kronos time clock system and transmit related reports to payroll team at DHQ for bi-weekly payroll
  • Maintain financial records and prepare financial reports and support budget preparation process as assigned
  • File copies of income back up, invoices, approvals and related information as needed for audit purposes
  • Maintains Petty Cash fund for day to day operations of the site
  • Performs other duties as assigned 

 

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Accounting, Business or similar field, or a minimum of 2 years experience in accounting utilizing a computerized system such as Shelby Accounting System.
