Overview

Assist High School aged teens with all their homework and provide tutoring when needed. While on field trips the Group Leader / Tutor is entrusted to assist with the supervision of children and teens.

In accordance with the school calendar the Group Leader / Tutor will work five (5) days per week, Mondays through Fridays, from 3:00 to 6:00. Other days and times for training will be required. The Tutor should provide and project positive reinforcement to problem solving and encourage independent study by students. He/she will assist students with homework.

Responsibilities

    • Assist the Director/Site Coordinator with maintaining a structured environment.
    • Assist with supervision on field trips or other outings.
    • Attend staff meetings and complete all required training sessions.
    • Oversee a group of students assigned by Program Director/Site Coordinator.
    • Assist students with homework assignments.
    • Provide tutoring when needed.
    • Assist facilitators with enrichment activities.
    • Pick up children.
    • Do not leave class or group unattended AT ANY TIME.
    • Must have knowledge of the whereabouts of ALL students assigned to you at all times.
    • Maintain Student Progress Folders.
    • Maintain a high moral standard at all times.
    • Attend parent meetings.
    • Be punctual; notify Site Director and /or Community Center Director if going to be late or absent.
    • Follow all policies set forth by G.A.I.N.S. and the State of New York School Age Child Care Program.
    • Prepare weekly Lesson Plans; conduct daily lessons based on lesson plans.
    • Maintain updated and age appropriate Lesson Plan Log.

 

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • First-hand knowledge pertaining to school aged children, (and/or received training in child/youth development or related field).
