Overview

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

 

The Learning Zone Aide works with children to improve skills and encourage growth. The position is for the summer on-site program with the potential to transfer to a part-time during the school year as a Learning Zone Assistant Teacher.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  1. Assisted with class activities for children in kindergarten to 6th grade.
  2. Assist with daily cleaning of Learning Zone areas.
  3. Assisted and lead recreation and gym activities for children.
  4. Assist and lead enrichment program.
  5. Actively supervise children.
  6. Attend required in-service training and Keepsafe protocols.
  7. Assist with assessments and evaluations of children.
  8. Maintain and monitor records and statistics needed for the program such as snacks, attendance, and supplies.
  9. Help with planning and seerving meals and class activities as needed.
  10. Support and uphold the mission of The Salvation Army
  11. Any other duties deemed necessary by the Corps Commanding Officers

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma
  • Prior tutoring experience preferred

 

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to relate to children
  • Ability to operate independently – self-motivated, self-management
