Position Details:

We are seeking a dedicated Resident Manager to support our High-Risk Youth Program, serving youth ages 10–17. This position is responsible for providing a safe, structured, and supportive environment for youth while overseeing daily residential activities and operations. Responsibilities include supervising residents, leading structured activities, providing crisis intervention and supportive counseling, assisting with daily household tasks, and ensuring the safety and security of the facility. Shifts may include afternoons, evenings, overnight hours, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilites

  • Lead daily activities and youth development programs that encourage participation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Supervise and monitor residents, conduct bed checks, and maintain building safety and security.
  • Provide crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and emergency intakes as needed.
  • Assist with meal preparation, housekeeping, resident chores, and daily household routines.
  • Answer phone calls, complete clerical tasks, and maintain accurate daily logs and documentation.
  • Attend staff meetings, complete required training, and provide backup support to other staff and youth programs as needed.
  • Promote cultural awareness, provide community education, and support The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services’ mission and strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent required.
  • Up to one year of work and/or internship experience working with adolescents or young adults.
  • Valid Drivers License that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements (preferred)
  • Current CPR Certification or ability to obtain CPR certification required.
  • Ability to diffuse crisis situations both within team settings and independently.
  • Ability to document program events and carry out scheduled or spontaneous tasks
  • Capable of applying all assigned training topics
  • PC Skills, Outlook, Word, Internet navigation.
