As a Program Aide, you’ll have the opportunity to inspire, mentor, and support children in grades K–6 through homework help, educational activities, and positive engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Support Students: Supervise and encourage children in homework, educational software, and enrichment activities.
  • Foster Growth: Help students build confidence, learn new skills, and reach their academic goals.
  • Create a Positive Space: Keep the classroom environment organized and welcoming for learning.
  • Be a Team Player: Collaborate with staff through weekly planning meetings and program evaluations.
  • Stay Involved: Complete reports and updates to keep our programs running smoothly.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with mealtime prep.
  • Help maintain program budgets and resources.
  • Step in with flexibility to support other program needs as directed.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • A caring, patient, and dependable individual who loves working with children.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Academic competency to help with K–6 homework (and willingness to learn/review Common Core Math).
  • Comfortable with technology: Microsoft Office, internet use, and children’s educational software.
  • A genuine interest in education, youth development, and making a positive impact.

Requirements

  • PA Child Abuse, Criminal, and FBI Clearances (required at hire and renewal).
  • Completion of PA Mandated Reporter & Salvation Army KeepSAfe training.
  • Valid PA Driver’s License.
  • Flexible availability that aligns with the Oil City School District schedule (may include daytime, after-school, or hybrid hours).

Education and Experience

 

  • Tutoring experience preferred.
  • Experience working with children’s programming.
  • Working knowledge of public-school system and community resources.
