The Direct Support Professional provides hands-on support to participants with daily living, personal care, meals, activities, and community outings. This position promotes participant independence, dignity, safety, and engagement while following individual care plans.

Responsibilities

Responisbilites

  • Prepare and maintain a clean, safe, and organized program environment for participants and daily activities.
  • Support and encourage participants in program activities, recreational events, and community outings based on their individual needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Monitor participants and promptly report changes in condition, accidents, incidents, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Provide assistance with personal care, including bathing, toileting, mobility, transfers, positioning, and the use of mobility equipment, according to individual care plans.
  • Assist participants with meals and snacks, including preparation, feeding, dietary restrictions, hydration, and after-meal care.
  • Complete accurate daily progress notes and other required program documentation.
  • Assist with planning activities and special events and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or technical school
  • One year of DSP or related Experience 
  • Valid Driver’s License that meet’s The Salvation Army’s insurance requirements.
