Overview

Position: Anti Trafficking Peer Mentor

Department: Philadelphia Social Service Ministries                                                     

Availability of Position: Immediate     

Schedule: Monday- Fridays 9 am- 5 pm; some nights and weekends.                 

Reporting Relationship: Mobile Case Management Program Manager       

Salary/Grade: $21.00 per hour, 76, Non-exempt

Responsibilities

Description of Position: The Peer Mentor will provide intensive peer support to confirmed and suspected survivors of human trafficking identified within the Philadelphia Department of Human Services. The Peer Mentor will develop and facilitate groups with youth survivors of trafficking, provide culturally competent services as well as their lived expertise to areas concerning substance use treatment, trafficking and/or commercial sexual exploitation.  The Peer Mentor will provide mentorship to youth survivors of trafficking identified through Philadelphia’s WRAP court and provide support with youth involved in DHS. The Peer Mentor will support the Peer Coordinator in developing The Salvation Army’s New Day to Stop Trafficking Program’s peer/survivor leadership program.

Qualifications

Requirements: Peer Counselor OR Certified Recovery Specialist certification required; High School Diploma or GED required. Two years experience in related field work.  Lived HT experience.  Must have an understanding of the issue of Domestic and Foreign Human Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation.  Experience with trauma informed care preferably a working knowledge of Sanctuary Model for Trauma informed services.  Bilingual, Spanish/English, preferred.  Driver’s License preferred.  Must be computer literate and skilled in Word and Excel. Must be able to negotiate the Internet. Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment. Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army. Must possess an appreciation for and understanding of the mission of The Salvation Army
