Location: Allentown Corps 

Availability of Position: ASAP                   

Schedule:  Part-time Plus, Monday-Friday, Schedule May Vary

Reporting Relationship: Corps Officers; Shelter Director

Salary and Grade: $15.00 per hour; 70 Non-Exempt

Responsibilities

Position Overview: The function of the Custodian is to maintain a clean and safe environment at all times for the program participants and the staff of the Salvation Army's Rich Fleming Hospitality House and Family Shelter.

 

Description of Position:       

  • Maintains the janitorial/cleaning functions of the Rich Fleming Hospitality House and Family Shelter located at 344 N. 7th Street. This includes the building and the corresponding grounds.
  • During the winter months this includes snow removal from the sidewalks surrounding the building and parking lot area.
  • Receives and stores properly deliveries.
  • Maintains janitorial supplies inventory.
  • Provides assistance with special projects and events.
  • Is on call for problems or concerns related to the cleaning, operation and safety of the building.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:                                      

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Can operate janitorial equipment.
  • Knowleege of Microsoft Office 360 (Word, Outlook, Excel, Powepoint, Publisher)
  • Bilingual preferred; Able to read, write, and speak Spanish and English fluently
  • Able to work with hand tools and small power tools as needed.
  • Able to handle various types of equipment- buffing machine, vacuum, leaf blower, lawn mower, etc.
  • Must treat all people with compassion and respect.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
  • Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
