Seeking Part Time Lifeguards to join our Long Point Camp Team

SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:

As lifeguard to provide safety during aquatic activities. To assist WSI in training in water safety, swimming, and boating skills for staff and campers. This position is responsible to the Assistant Camp Director with direct supervision by the Waterfront Director.

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To assist in all waterfront activities with concern for the safety of all participants.
  • To provide leadership in classes of instruction as provided by the camp program.
  • To help in the testing and classifying of swimming abilities of campers and staff on intake days.
  • To oversee the use of small craft/boating program, providing instruction in boating skills and safety.
  • To promote strict follow-up of guidelines established by the WSI.
  • To maintain physical fitness by participating in drills as directed by the Waterfront Director.
  • To accept specific responsibilities as assigned by the Waterfront Director.
  • To accept assignments of maintenance pertaining to the waterfront/boating area.
  • To assist in general appearance of waterfront and upkeep of equipment.
  • To maintain personal appearance and adhere to all personal policies and practices as presented in the Long Point Camp Staff Manual.
  • To punctually attend all camp-wide programs, such as evening program, meals, and vespers, that do not conflict with specific job responsibilities, and to assist with camper supervision during these programs.
  • To support and assist in the program planning and other camp wide activities as assigned.
  • To report promptly any situation that may arise in camper or staff relations.

Qualifications

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

List any special skills, licenses, certificates, or registrations that are required to perform the essential duties of this job

  • Must be at least 17 years of age.
  • Must have current American Red Cross certification for the professional rescuer.
  • Must possess current lifesaving certification as issued by American Red Cross.
  • Have current American Red Cross lifeguard certification.
  • Must have experience in the control of groups in waterfront activities and uphold the principals of Christian living.
