Overview


Position: Christian Education Coordinator            

Department: Divisional Youth Department                            

Availability of Position: Immediately                   

Schedule: Full time; 40 hours                            

Reporting Relationship: Directly: Divisional Youth Secretary (DYS) and Divisional Candidate Secretary; Indirectly: Divisional Program Secretary     

Salary or Salary Grade: 11, Exempt

Responsibilities

Description of Position: Christian Education and Joy Staff Coordinator, assists in the development, coordination, and implementation of Christian education ministries for youth throughout the Pendel Division of The Salvation Army. The position provides year-round divisional youth leadership support and assumes expanded leadership, supervisory, and programmatic responsibilities during Camp Summer season.      

Qualifications

Requirements:                        

  • Must be an active Salvationist in The Salvation Army
  • Must have an understanding, appreciation for and support of the mission of The Salvation Army
  • Must be a Christian familiar with the principles of Christian living found in the New Testament and seeking God’s guidance for help in his/her daily walk.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or experience in a related field.
  • Possess and maintain up-to-date training in Youth Mental Health and First Aid.
  • Must have a strong desire to work with children and youth.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must relocate to camp during the summer.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Must have a willingness to travel when necessary.
  • Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
  • Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
