Location:         Kroc Center Boston – 650 Dudley Street – Dorchester, MA

Hours/week:   Full-time, 40 hours per week

Exemption:     Non-Exempt

Pay Range:      $20 - $24 per hour*

*starting pay varies depending on experience and qualifications*

 

 

Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Two (2) to four (4) years’ experience as a lifeguard with management/administrative duties, required
  • Six (6) months to One (1) year experience as Lifeguard and certified swim instructor2+ years of experience working with a filtration system
  • American Red Cross Certification in Lifeguard Training and CPR/AED/FA for the Professional Rescuer
  • S. Water Fitness Instructor Certification or another approved nationally accredited organization preferred
  • American Red Cross Certification Water Safety Instructor
  • Willingness to complete Water Park Lifeguarding course
  • Meet The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center of Boston skill standards for Swim Instructors.
  • Be dependable, alert and able to interact with people of all ages and from varying backgrounds in a positive manner.
  • Must have CPO (certified pool operator) certification
  • Must be willing to obtain LGTI certification within 90 days of employment (satisfactory completion of this course is required for this position)

 

 

Principle Functions

The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for the safety of all patrons and the aquatics facility supervises the lifeguard staff, and opens and closes the facility as required. The Aquatics Coordinator will also teach group water fitness, learn to swim and private classes.  Maintain, perform maintenance on, and ensure the safety of our Filtration System and Water Park and to ensure the safety of all patrons

  • Must be organized and able to coordinate complex schedules, events, and communications.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Applications
  • Must have the ability to work and relate well with people.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Able to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment
  • Must possess good relationship skills
  • Must be a team player
  • Must have management experience
  • Lifeguard Instructor Certification
  • Water Safety Instructor Certification
  • Water Exercise Instructor Certification
  • Water Safety Instructor Trainer Certification, preferred
  • Water Exercise Instructor Certification, preferred
  • Have ability to instruct a classroom of adults, adolescents, and child learners consisting of individuals with varying experience, competency, and cultural backgrounds.
