Overview

DEPARTMENT:       Recreation

 REPORTS TO:         Recreation and Fitness Manager

SUPERVISES:          Helps supervise facilities for programs and rentals

STATUS:                   Non-Exempt

SCHEDULE:             Part Time – up to 29 hours (during beginning of seasons may require additional time)

FUNCTION: The person in this position will fill all basketball program needs and will assist with other programs as directed by their management.  The nature of the task and responsibilities will change to some degree based upon the program they are assisting in; but their character and attitude must always promote the Christian faith and be in keeping with the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

Summary:

  • Responsible for the implementation and supervision of programs taking place in conjunction with the Kroc Park. This could include monitoring the facilities, special events, classes, field trips and various programs (SK2, Summer Camps, Corps programs), rentals, leagues, and tournaments.

 

General

  • Display good character and be passionate about impacting others’ lives through the realm of Sports and Recreation
  • Display a good understanding of Sports.
  • Use excellent communication skills to work positively with different populations and build rapport with clients
  • Ensure that a safe and healthy environment exists for participants
  • Give the Athletic Program Supervisor advanced notice if unable to be at scheduled shift
  • Will work evenings and weekend hours as needed for sports programs.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

Will work with Recreation and Fitness Manager and Soccer Specialist.

  • Will be on site for the duration of the rentals, games, programs, and tournaments

 

Programs, Rentals, Games

  • Responsible for set-up and tear down of all equipment
    • Proper goals
    • Corner flags
    • Benches/water/first aid supplies
    • Pickleball courts
  • Responsible for all restrooms
    • Cleanliness and stock of all paper towels and toilet paper.
  • Responsible for all official payments.
    • Must get signatures from all officials before games
  • Will act as the on-site coordinator in case of any issues with program members, parents, or opposite teams.
  • Responsible for getting players and spectators off the field if the Lightning alarm goes off.
  • Maintenance of fields, and courts.
  • Ensure the timeliness of the fields.
  • Record all match results and keep track of stats.
  • Enforcing rules and regulations
  • Arbitrating disputes
  • Officiating awards ceremonies.

 

Tournament set-up and breakdown

  • Bracketing/Team Communication
  • Referee coordination
  • Field/Courts set up and organization
  • Volunteer management (i.e scorekeepers)
  • Ensure the timeliness of the courts.
  • Record all match results
  • Enforcing rules and regulations
  • Arbitrating disputes
  • Officiating awards ceremonies.

 

  • All other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Fitness and Recreation Management Team.

Qualifications

  1. A person of good character
  2. Able to follow directions
  3. Willing to work a variety of schedules as needed for programming
  4. Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly in English
  5. Must be able to work well with others
  6. If this person will be needed to drive as part of their responsibilities, then they will need to have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a Salvation Army 12 passenger driving test.
