FUNCTION: This position is responsible for Emergency Assistance Services at the Sidney, OH/Shelby County Corps. Services performed by this position include assessing the basic needs of low-income individuals and families, providing assistance in the form of food, financial assistance, vouchers for in-kind items such as clothing and furniture, and linking participants to services that will help stabilize their crisis. This position will assist with camp registration, seasonal programs, and all stabilization courses offered by the Emergency Assistance program. This position will work in harmony with the Corps Officer to carry-out The Salvation Army’s mission and ministry. |
1 | Assess the basic and emergency needs of low-income individuals and families participating in the program. |
2 | Through crisis intervention, advocacy, and case planning, assist participants in forming a plan to stabilize the crisis. |
3 | Provide direct material assistance in the form of food, financial assistance (As funds are available, i.e. utility, rent, other) or other forms of assistance as needed to stabilize the participant’s crisis. |
4 | Link participants with services that will assist in the long-term stabilization of the crisis. Services may include but not limited to; stabilization courses offered by The Salvation Army, shelter, or other community partners that will address the cause of the participant’s crisis. |
5 | Respond to all Emergency Assistance telephone calls, walk-ins, and inquiries. |
6 | Conduct registration for programs such as camp, seasonal programs, and other programs as requested. |
7 | Maintain and compile service statistics on all clients. Complete reconciliation paperwork. Turn into the Corps Officer at month end. |
8 | Place and coordinate food pantry orders on an as needed basis, stock food pantry, maintain pantry guidelines and expectations. Complete food pantry statistics report and submit to Corps Officer on a monthly basis. |
9 | Attend all staff meetings and in-service training sessions. |
10 | Cooperate with other Salvation Army staff to create and maintain a harmonious and efficient environment. |
11 | Maintain time keeping procedures and protocols. Ensure to submit timesheets on time for review and approval of supervisor. |
12 | Consult with the Corps Officer for additional information, feedback, and approval on assistance with difficult or unusual client situations. |
1 | High school diploma or GED equivalent required |
2 | Proficient in oral and written communication |
3 | Proficient in customer and community relation skills |
4 | Must possess valid State driver’s license and pass TSA background check |
5 | Must possess the ability to work well with all types of people |
6 | Must demonstrate both organizational skills, creativity, self-motivation, and flexibility |
7 | Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Kettles program/database, multi-line phone |
