Overview

The Youth Ministries Coordinator serves as the lead member of the Campus Ministries pastoral staff responsible for the holistic care and spiritual development of all ages of students affiliated with CFOT—from newborn to teenagers. This role includes developing a holistic, all-encompassing vision for spiritual development. This position coordinates the planning and leading of age-appropriate spiritual formation, engaging Biblical programs, mentoring students, and supporting their families in their faith journey.

 

This role also provides leadership to the teen and middle school staff by coordinating the planning and implementation of a robust ministry to this age group.

In addition to direct ministry to youth, the YM Coordinator actively contributes to the broader CFOT community by participating in Campus Ministries events, corps ministries, and services to families. This position requires a strong commitment to young people and their families, a collaborative spirit, insight into community needs, and the ability to implement effective and engaging ministry strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and assist in the coordination of small groups.
  • Serve as a small group leader to CFOT children and teens.
  • Assist in providing day-to-day pastoral care to the youth at the CFOT.
  • Plan and execute spiritual activities for CFOT youth, including Sunday worship and small group worship, in conjunction with the ministry team staff and Personnel Officer.
  • Support and assist in the creation of a Spiritual Development Plan for CFOT youth in conjunction with ministry team staff and Personnel Officers.
  • Plan and execute off-campus spiritual activities for CFOT youth, including worship, retreat, and youth councils.
  • Oversee the coordination of Sunday youth programming for children and youth.
  • Maintain proper coverage and schedule for the youth program.
  • Supervise the youth ministries team to ensure effective planning, coordination, and execution of youth programs and activities.
  • Review and approve timesheets and paid time off requests for Youth Ministries staff.
  • Meet regularly with Youth Ministries staff to review the program and department goals.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for Youth Ministries staff.
  • Maintain budget and appropriate expenditure records in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Maintain receipts for SmartData.
  • Oversee the proper completion of incident reports and communicate any incidents to the assigned Personnel Officer and Campus Ministries Director.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of CFOT youth, remain attentive to their individual and group needs, and respond appropriately to any concerns or issues.
  • Assist in providing motivational leadership to the Youth Ministries.
  • Ensure good supervision is provided to teens during after-school, public school holidays, Christmas season, and other extended hours.
  • Oversee the cleanliness and upkeep of the teen rooms, including equipment, supplies, and snacks.
  • Coordinate the planning of trips and special activities for students during public school holidays, Christmas season, and any extended hours in conjunction with the other Youth Ministries.
  • Maintain and stock supplies (i.e., program, school, and snacks).
  • Serve as photographer/videographer for Campus Ministries.
  • Create CM graphics for program use, such as flyers, announcements, logos, and videos for CM use.
  • Coordinate the maintenance of CM bulletin boards as they relate to the teens.
  • Maintain relationships with all teens and teen parents on campus.
  • Provide support, guidance, and resources to parents, teens, and families.
  • Greet the parents at arrival and departure. Encourage and welcome parents to be involved in the Campus Ministry's activities.
  • Communicate with teens' parents any concerns regarding teen behavior, activity announcements, and/or information needed regarding homework, as needed.
  • Conducting individual conferences with parents and teens on an as-needed basis.
  • Report any concerns about adolescents and families that may require intervention.
  • Conform to meet New York State Day Care regulations regarding in-service training.
  • Be familiar with and follow all Camus Ministries Day Care Center policies.
  • Be familiar with and follow New York State daycare regulations.
  • Follow New York State and KeepSAfe guidelines for Mandated Reporting.
  • Follow all CFOT and CM policies.
  • Perform any additional duties related to the care of children and teens, as requested.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university and three to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.\

  • Valid driver’s license and approval to drive the CFOT van.
  • Active Christian in good standing.
  • Must be available to work on Sundays, as required.
  • Proficiency is in MS Office Suites, Canva, and Publishing software.
  • Excellent communciation and organization.
